Y1 - Miss Forster

A mix of both reception classes will move into Miss Forster's class in Year 1

Hello everyone,

My name is Miss Forster and I am delighted to be your new class teacher. I am very excited to meet you all and for us to begin our learning adventure together - with lots of laughter, fun and learning.

Over the summer I will be working hard to make our classroom a fun and exciting place to learn - all I will be missing is you! You are my second class at George Washington Primary School. Miss Masters' is our teaching assistant and she will helping us in Year 1.

Our classroom will be very much like Reception in that there are lots of areas for you to explore. You will have a fun challenge to complete in every area, each week. I have attached some pictures below, so you can see what our classroom looks like. We also have a lovely big playground outside our classroom and we have forest school every other week too.

Below I have added a video so that you can learn a little bit about me and the transition task you will be completing at school.

I hope you have a wonderful summer and are excited for our journey to start in September.

Love Miss Forster

Your task - For those at home

We are a box of crayons, each one of us unique but when we work together our classroom is complete!

I would like you to decorate your own crayon. You should start by writing your name and drawing a self-portrait - just like I have in my example. It would be great if you could colour the rest of your crayon in your favourite colour. Inside the crayon there are a list of favourite things I would like you to complete, as well as adding your birthday, what you like to do at school and what you would like to be when you are older. I have attached the template for the task.

If you are at home and are unable to print this off, please do not worry as we will complete this in September when you start. You may wish to draw your own crayon and complete the front page of this task and discuss what you would include inside your crayon. This includes:

  • Your birthday.
  • Favourite colour.
  • Favourite sport.
  • Favourite animal.
  • Draw a picture of your favourite food.
  • What you like to do at school.
  • What you would like to be when you are older.

If you are in school, you will be completing this with Miss Conner this week.
