Reception Yearly Overview

Building a Pirate Ship

We worked together to build a pirate ship in the outdoor construction area. We added features such as a mast, crow’s nest, sail and cannons. We even made some pirate food in the mud kitchen to take on our journey to ‘Pirate Island’.

Pirate Day

We came to school dressed as pirates for a day of swashbuckling fun! We went on a treasure hunt, made hard tack biscuits and took part in a pirate obstacle course where we had to avoid the sharks and cannonballs!

Dough Disco

We do Dough Disco every week to develop our finger strength which helps us to improve our handwriting.

The Life Cycle of a Butterfly

We learned about the life cycle of a butterfly and watched carefully as our tiny caterpillars made their cocoons and emerged as beautiful butterflies.

Easter Window Display

We visited Marshall’s to see our Easter window display. We were very impressed with all of the super work and were lucky to each be given a treat from the shop.

Outdoor Learning

We love to play in the outdoor area!

2.9.2020 - First Day At School

We were so impressed with all of the children on their first day at school! They all came in with big smiles and quickly settled into the reception environment.
